Only last summer we thought about bringing organisations and individuals together to mark the importance of our difference and who would have thought we would deliver such a fantastic, meaningful week for everyone of any ability and age!
We started by introducing Fay Dunn, she has outlined her journey with Dyspraxia following with her recommendation of the best strategies, tools and fun toys for kids!! Everyone was positively overwhelmed by Fay's story, plus it has given good perspective and understanding to parents.
Day two was about Autism, the wonderful Aisling Foran presented valuable information for parents, teachers and carers. Her mission is to speak up about Autism and how to go through life without fear and boundaries. She is an amazing Autism advocate involved with Wicklow TrippleA.
In the middle of the week, we welcomed Donna from Dyslexia Matters Ireland, who has provided important strategies to support learning literacy including life and school advice to support children with Dyslexia. It was such a pleasure to have Donna be a part of our week.
Thursday was delivered by fantastic ADHD Ireland including Tash Milne who spoke about her and her family's journey to explore ADHD. The presentation was fulfilled with strategies and day to day tips relevant to kids and adults.
The last but not least day was about Neurodiversity and adults which we started with such an important topic Mental Health with Aengus Burke following a talk by Ken Kilbride who focused on Neurodiversity in Business and how to make the workplace friendlier for neurodivergent professionals.
During all the webinars, we organised creative online classes for children, which have enjoyed Fun Drama and Mindfulness while Parents took part in our talks.
We did not forget about schools, on Wednesday we have organised Webinar with Claire from Internal Connections who has spoken about what is neurodiversity and how fantastic is that we are different due to our brains. The goal was achieved, we have planted a little seed in our youth to be understanding, open and not worried to be different.
It has been some journey to pull all of that together by 3 people in a few months. We did not have huge champagne, we did not have funds for marketing billboards or TV ads and we have reached all together over 2000 people !! We would like to thank everyone who has shared our post, who has opened our email, who has liked our story THANK YOU from us, because of you we were able to make a Neurodiversity Celebration Week Valid in Ireland!!
We will come back next year :)
If you wish to be part of our Neurodiversity Celebration Week, please do not be a stranger, email us :)
That's it!! Happy hearts and smiley faces!! :)
Now we are on a mission to
Thank you!
